Up The Irons! Again! This concert stood out for a few reasons. First, it was the first time I thought – maybe Bruce can’t hit ALL the high notes anymore (even though he still sounds great). Second, this was the last time I will be seeing Nicko McBrain with the band as he had since announced his retirement after over 40 years. He had a stroke not to long ago, and it looked like he was slowing down a bit – but I’ve never seen Maiden without Nicko in the band so that will be weird.
And third I asked a doctor if it was okay that I go. A surgeon to be specific – because just a few weeks prior to the Maiden show I had to have my gall bladder out.
But enough about my heroic recovery. This was a great night of music and the first time I sat for an entire Maiden show…ever.
I go with the crowd. If they stand up in front of me, I’m standing. If they don’t, I won’t.
The usual crowd of me, Dave (with the thumbs) and my brother. And my brother’s friend Rich who we previously saw Tesla with.
The opening act was The Hu. Now if you say that out loud it might make you think – wait, what!? But this was a “Mongolian folk metal band” (according to Wikipedia).
A couple dudes playing cello like instruments. No English lyrics, but they had a fun sound to them.
This is the most recent Iron Maiden show since starting this website. I hope to keep adding more while there is still time.
