I love reading and love keep tracking of what I'm reading...
I remember first hearing about the Jack Reacher books years ago on a podcast. Before that, I thought it was just a couple movies starring Tom Cruise. Once Amazon announced the Reacher television series, I got more interested in learning more about the books and decided to give the first one a try.
Before Reacher, a lot of the books I read were fantasy based, so I wasn’t sure how I’d respond to an action/thriller series where the guy is basically great at everything.
Turns out – pretty good.
Maybe it goes back to my love of Superman? It’s not about how great or how much more powerful you are than your opponent – it’s what you choose to do it.
And sure, does Reacher seem to just stumble into adventure after adventure? Yes. But do I care? Not one bit. It’s probably why I like movies like Man on Fire, the Equalizer, or John Wick. I love a guy who is better at something than everyone else and they’re going to know it!
I was a fan of Tom Brady for two decades, can you blame me?
This is the eleventh book in the series and it was the premise of the 2nd season of the Reacher series.
As a fan of the show, I already knew it the story. But hey, I already knew the first book’s story as well (which was the basis of the first season and the basis of the Tom Cruise movie that I still may watch some day) – it doesn’t stop me.
And even though my buddy Chris told me I don’t need to read the books in order – I kinda do. It’s just my thing.
These books are fast/fun/kinetic reads – and by fast I mean it took me less than two weeks – and they are pretty much stand-alone adventures. So I could read them out of order.
But I won’t.
Eleven books in and I’m not even half way through the series. At some point, Lee Child’s brother starts co-writing with him and then eventually he takes over completely I believe. I wonder if I’ll notice any difference – when I eventually get there.
Some day.
