What Mike's Reading

I admit, I did not read the synopsis of this book after maybe the first or second sentence. I read it purely on the author, who I’ve read before, and the title. So I had no idea that this was anything more than a slasher in a small town/camp story.

And when that other plot line materialized (I can’t say it’s a twist since the plot line is clearly mentioned in the book’s synopsis that I did not read) I was a bit surprised. AKA, I was like – wait, what?

That being said, I still enjoyed this book and I am pretty sure some references means it is in the same world as the previous book I read of his (Slashtag). You like the characters you’re supposed to like and hate the characters you’re supposed to hate.

It’s kinda crazy, bonkers, and bloody. And yes, I may have cheered a bit when I wasn’t supposed to (picture kids at a camp thinking they’re being pranked – but instantly finding out they are not).

It wasn’t what I was expecting or hoping for when I first started the book (again see that other plot line) but in the end I still enjoyed it and look forward to reading more of Jon Cohn.
