What Mike's Reading

This is my first R.A. Salvatore book on this blog, but in truth I’ve read no author more in my lifetime. He is an alumni of my and my wife’s college, and I first learned of him after tagging along with my future wife to a talk he was giving that she had to attend for an English class. While she found it interesting, I was captivated.

We were able to meet him and I bought a book that he signed. That was probably 1998. I never stopped reading him and today I finished by 71st Salvatore book.

Keep in mind – I’ve never played Dungeons & Dragons, but I feel like I know a lot about the world thanks to many of his books that are part of that world – including this one.

As usual, I loved visiting with my old friends again – while getting to know some new ones. I’m disappointed that I guess there was an Audible original story that I knew nothing about where things happened that I think were referenced in this book – I may have to go back and remedy that, but I don’t and won’t become an Audible subscriber. So we’ll see how if that’s possible.

This book feels like a new beginning with the main character being the daughter of the characters I’ve been reading since my college days – but in truth it just breathes (or breezes?) new life into these existing characters that still played a big part in the story.

By the end of this book – much like with all of Salvatore’s – I’m all in and ready for what’s next! Years ago I was so behind I could go to Barnes & Noble and buy the next book to read – but now I have to wait like all the other fans.

But I’ll definitely be there.
