What Mike's Reading

Whenever my wife and I go thrifting, I go straight to look for books first. Sometimes I look for books from a specific series that I am trying to complete, but other times I just look for something that stands out. T.L. Huchu’s, The Library of the Dead was one of those books that stood out. Maybe it was the title or maybe it was the bright cover art, but I immediately grabbed it for a future read.

And boy am I glad I did. A supernatural adventure where young people have to save the day? Sign me up. Did I get all of the Scottish slang? No, but did I need to? No.

The best part of the story was the main character, a smart/strong well-rounded young woman who can communicate with the dead.

I knew half way through this read that I was going to read the next book in the series. And then I found out there are actually five books in total? Well okay then! I’m there!

This is one of those rare, physical books that I read. I mean sure, I am a proponent of physical media as much as the same person – but physical media takes up room that I do not have to spare! So my usual deal is, if I buy a book at a thrift store, I think of it more as a temporary purchase. Once I am done reading it, I will bring it to one of the local Little Free Libraries in my area.
